Pearl Jammed
Its spring time again, that can only mean one thing. Time for the annual Swifty migration to Chicago, but don’t blink as he will vanish before you know it. This time he was in town for the Pearl Jam show at the United Center. Since it was a Wednesday night I took 2 days off work so I could recover, good forsight as I’m writing this on four hours of sleep. Man, I did way too much driving last night..or today…or whatever! What day is this again?
Anyways, back to the show…yeah they rocked the house! I saw them once a long time ago at Purdue back in their heyday and compared to last nights they still got it. One of the few bands to survive the Seattle explosion from the early Nineties, they have matured since and some of their later albums aren’t up to snuff, but this latest installment is pretty damn good. They played for what seemed like forever, including two encores that were great with a mix of old and new material. I got into the older stuff a bit more than the lamos around us, I must be showing my age. I took a ton of pictures with my trusty camera, and sadly a lot of them didn’t turn out. But there were some good ones in there, check em out in the gallery. I also have some videos here. Thanks to Youtube!
Here is last night’s setlist:
Set 1 Severed Hand, World Wide Suicide, Life Wasted, Animal, Marker In The Sand, Do The Evolution, Whipping, 1/2 Full, I Am Mine, Even Flow, Gone, Insignificance, Better Man, Save it for Later, Down, Garden, Inside Job, Lukin, Why Go
Encore 1 Wasted Reprise, Man Of The Hour, Footsteps, Once, Alive
Encore 2 Last Kiss, Last Exit, Glorified G, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, Crown Of Thorns, Rockin’ In The Free World, Yellow Ledbetter
And with that, I threw Swifty into the car (sometimes brute force is necessary with him
), drove him to the airport at 4:30 this morning and away he went. See you next spring Jungleboy.
