Spent today in the pool all morning, hoping to wear out the kids. Seemed to have worked, all currently napping. Wedding is tonight at 6, outside and its friggin hot and very buggy there at the River’d Inn. We’ll see who passes out first.

Well, we found beer. It didn’t help, the kids are still driving us nuts. We compensated today by wine tasting and then taking a cranky Erik screaming from the room and going on the world famous Skyline Drive. We drove into the clouds, literally. It rained. Erik napped.

A strange visitor

June 6, 2007 - 9:18 pm No Comments

OK, so Trish calls me from the car today and sticks the phone out the window. Driving through Glen Ellyn today was the most unusual sound, apparently it was the 17 year awakening of Cicada Brood XIII. So loud it was deafening! I could plainly hear it through the cell phone, what a racket! Well, since I don’t recall ever seeing any of this back in 1990…”Trish I want you to bring one home for me!” I was joking, I didn’t think she would, after all she’s a girl! And girls don’t touch bugs. Well, I guess I was wrong because sitting on our kitchen island waiting for me was this red eyed little monster. I bet he was pissed, 17 years waiting in the ground and he finally can get some nookie only to be scooped up by someone and put in a plastic container.

Tinsel Town in tiny town

June 4, 2007 - 10:10 am No Comments

This is strange, in the span of 2 weeks right in the same area 2 different films are in production near our house. Odd because we’re in the sticks, middle of nowheresville and 2 different films chose the same speck of a town (Virgil) as a backdrop.

Pretty neat though, I drive past these places on my way to work and I rode past there last weekend on my weekly bike ride. Shoulda asked for a job!

The two films in question are a low budget comedy Witless Protection starring Larry the Cable Guy (Mater!) and The Express, a football biopic drama starring Dennis Quaid.

Heres an article.
