The cleanup begins

Servicemaster came this morning and finally picked up their equipment. Now the next step is to get estimates for repairs, we have to make a list of all the stuff that didn’t make it, get a carpet estimate, and somehow get an appliance technician to come out and check out the TV and other electronics. Yeah, this is going to be fun. Nothing like starting over a month and half before the baby shows up.

Hello!

So, welcome to Korioth.com in exile! Hey, just because mother nature decided to piss all over my basement doesn’t mean we have to stop blogging! Sure its a bit sparse, but its better than nothing! Surprisingly the computer that hosts the site at home survived the water, at least I think it did. So once things are back together around here the old site should be making a comeback.

Lollapalooza 2007 Day 1

August 4, 2007 - 9:50 am No Comments

So its the day after, my legs are sore, I’m tired, and my ears are ringing. This can only mean my return to Lalapalooza. Like last time, although nothing could ever top that one, it was a ton of fun. As usual Swifty came in as well as Scotty’s bro James. One thing is for sure, this time it was sweltering hot, finding shade was at a premium so we were chugging the water (with an occasional fermented brew mixed in).

I had some reservations about going in the first place because I felt the lineup was rather weak. There weren’t too many names on the list that I recognized or had a desire to see. This year, the bill featured a diverse range of music from the usual rock fare, shoegaze, punk, blues and surprisingly electronic music. The short list of the acts we caught:

* Ted Leo and the Pharmacists
* Charlie Musselwhite
* The Polyphonic Spree
* Against Me!
* Silversun Pickups
* The Black Keys
* LCD Soundsystem
* Daft Punk

The acts that I thought were stand outs were Charlie Musselwhite (Blues), Against Me! (Punk), Silversun Piackups (Shoegaze), LCD Soundsystem (Pop electronica?), and Daft Punk (Electronica). Daft Punk I have to say was fantastic! You know the genre of dance electronica has come a long way when two guys dressed as robots spinning turntables is headlining a rock festival. The whole place turned into a giant rave, it was euphoric. Everyone was groovin, I mean everyone which was really cool.

After the show, despite my legs were going to fall off I ended up running back to the train station to make the 10:40. Whew! Made it with one minute to spare!

So this is only Day 1, I plan on returning for Day 3!
Uh..scratch that idea. My damn knee is really sore today so the idea of standing around all day, walking and then running to the train again doesn’t work for me.
