5 Days later

Just a quick update while everyone is taking a nap, except for Mr. Erik who is talking to himself right now.. Mom and Lauren are doing well, she went to her first doctor visit today. She is almost back up to her birth weight, not bad for 5 days. She is a professional sleeper, so far she can go for a few hours at a time, although last night she decided to be awake from 2 to 5 AM, but she wasn’t crying or anything. Just hanging out I suppose. She is very easy going, which is a nice change. Hmm, I’ll take the credit for that one ;) But, never say never things can change from week to week. We have yet to encounter the screaming terror that we’re used to hearing.

Lauren is finally here!

Well as many of you know today was the scheduled debut of our newest bundle of joy, Erik’s new little (relatively speaking) sister! Lauren Christel Korioth entered the world at approximately 1:45 PM today into the capable hands of the medical staff at Central Dupage Hospital. Her stats are 8 pounds 4 ozs and 21 and a half inches long. Another kid who will probably be fairly tall, where does this come from? We’re all of European dwarf stock. Interestingly enough she was also born with a lot of black curly hair, but not as much as Erik and upon taking a bath it lightened up. We were guessing a bald blonde baby this time. Trisha hangs out at her barn way too much ;-)

Trisha is recovering nicely, the procedure was routine and finished within an hour. Lauren is quite the little cutie, and doing well herself. Already she shows some attitude. Yeah, this one will be trouble. Erik was very excited to meet his new sister, he wanted to bring her home tonight! Most likely that will happen Sunday or Monday if needed. For now, have a gander at the first round of photos.

UPDATE: We are now at home. Due to popular demand I have uploaded more photos. Please gawk at your leisure.

The final countdown

Well, here we are exactly one week to go until our lives are changed forever again with the scheduled arrival of our newest one. Of course maybe she has other plans and wants to show up early but so far we got nuttin. Trisha has been feeling miserable and I’ve busted her doing jumping jacks and eating Eggplant Parmesan in the futile hope that this would trigger the onset of labor. One more week…

Of course on top of this I don’t think we’ve could possibly cram more crap and stuff to do until the very last minute. The progress on the basement has been slow but this week and next have been extremely busy. I spent all weekend fixing the office, painting, removing trim etc and then we ran all over the suburbs running errands and doing exciting things like carpet shopping. This week the carpenter came and installed our new doors and trim (looks great Rick thanks!) and on Tuesday the carpet is supposed to be installed. So hopefully by this time next week I can finally park in the garage! Wouldn’t that be nice? I also have to fit in the Homecoming football game and some extra client work as well. When it rains it pours right? Nothing like a little relaxation before the arrival of your next kid.

A year from now we’ll probably look back on this blog post and laugh. “Look at all the spare time we had honey”
