A Hokey Birthday Poem for Ollie’s 35th

The year was a whirlwind -
both good things and bad.

We went on vacation,
but not much fun was to be had.

Our house gave us troubles.
Thought the ship surely would sink!

We bailed out in time
for a baby in pink.

The holidays had us
running here, there and home.

Then house problems did resurface.
Aching muscles (though not toned).

Here we are once again.
One year later, to the date.

Your only present arrived broken.
Hope it’s not a sign of future fate!

On your 35th birthday,
may the next year be great.

I just made aware (thanks to Twitter) of this event, and its a great idea. I thought I would post this just to spread the word a bit as this is good for us all. Even if the critics argue that this will do nothing to global warming, it will at least get you to think about how we use our energy resources.

Oh wait, it was Saturday. But that doesn’t have the same ring to it.  It was man night out last night, Erik and I took in a MONSTER TRUCK SHOW..Car crushing fun was had by all. I had no idea we had so many rednecks around here.

..but this is crazy! Checking in on my financial aid status I came across this number:

Uhh what?!! I almost fell out of my chair seeing that. Once I breathed heavily into a paper bag I of course called right away. “Its a mistake.” Uh, yeah it is! I better not be getting a bill for this.

This is of course hilarious because even though I graduated in 1995 from Purdue, my dad still seems to bring up the “$65,000 dollar education son.” Sorry, I have this one beat!

P.S. I’m in my final class now, done at the end of April woot! And $300 million in the hole too.

Just a quick post to say, car shopping sucks! We have too many options, requirements limitations…

New or used? SUV or Mini Van? 4×4 or not? How much is that a month? How much gas mileage will we get? Does it have a third row? Will my head explode? Gah! So,we’ve gone from thinking minivan, to CUV (too expensive), SUV, and now back to Minivan. Lets just get a cube truck and get it over with! Pathfinder, Pilot, Pacifica, Quest, Sienna, Mazda 5, Smartcar….I can’t keep them straight anymore.
