Erik’s Bathtub Conversation #5
More anecdotes and insights from the tub. Tonight's topics include, our new dog Zach and Christmas, er Valentines Day. No girls allowed.
More insights from a 6 year old. Throwing snowballs, Easter during Christmas, hand me down haircuts.
Just thought I would share this little clip from Erik’s Preschool Spring Sing from last week. Aww how cute. Watch him hide in embarrassment!
Heres Erik answering the knock at the door..who could it be???
I know everyone always says this but its really true! I can’t believe my widdle Ewick is FOUR already! Time flies. Its funny because he is quickly growing up into my little guy, actually a complete goofball. His sense of humor is starting to show, I can see many trips to detention in his future. He’s even figured out how to ride without training wheels, and he just started riding his bike in the spring. So uh I guess he’s ready to move out now right?
One benefit I suppose of having to clean up the basement and reorganize all this stuff is that going through some of the boxes of my old toys is breathing new life into them. For Erik its like Christmas in September, each new box that is opened must immediately be rifled through and promptly played with. He must have spent at least 40 minutes in the garage having a grand ole time driving around my old Matchbox and other assorted lead painted cars.
When he laid eyes on this box stuffed with my old Legos it was like the second coming of Christ for him. “OHHHHHHHH! A TOY! DADDY WHATS THIS?” So, since I don’t seem to be playing with them much anymore I gave them to him. Tonight we built a little house together where the local Lego contingent of Astronauts have moved in, taking off their helmets of course to sleep. Ya know its funny I felt a bit torn about letting him have my Legos. Dude, I’m 34!
P.S. Don’t tell Dennis he might want to play with them too…mooching weasel. ![]()
| Since we are all train nuts we had a great time, even though it was raining. Erik was really excited to finally meet the real deal. We went for a short ride, along with several thousand other screaming Thomas fans, and checked out some of the other exhibits at the museum. We finally got a chance to climb into the cab of an old steam engine. Neat stuff, and my dad of course was impressed with the engineering involved. Erik kept us on the move so we really couldn’t stop and explore as much as we would have liked. I’m sure there will plenty of time to do that in the future. |

On the model train front, I was able to do some Ebaying and finally snagged myself another Steamer. The roster now sits at 6, I’m going to need some kind of shelf! Another MTH brand steamer, this time the Reading 4-6-2 Pacific. Again, another great buy from Ebay as this one was brand new. This engine has all the bells and whistles like the other ones, and has passenger station sounds. Now I’m in the hunt for some matching passenger cars. |
