Mother Nature is winning

September 15, 2008 - 6:37 pm No Comments

Bah! I suppose I should not be surprised in the least. Mother nature decided to drop the most rainfall in 24 hours ever recorded this past weekend, and OF COURSE we could not come out of this unscathed. Once again, the carpet has been removed and is now on the end of the driveway. Unbelievable, we get to deal with this crap again…So the current tally in this game Mother nature 3, us 0, the big goose egg, nuthin.  There was a river going through our backyard and I swear there was a fish swimming against the current flowing over the road.

Anybody know how to tile a basement? Thats right..forget that carpet noise, we’re goin tile!

Anyone want to go swimming?

I CANNOT STAND THIS CRAP! Once again, we have an indoor pool in our basement. Lucky for us, we happened to be downstairs at the time and were able to nip it in the bud before the entire place floated away. But still, what the hell! We didn’t lose anything (Trisha would have preferred the couches to drown) because we learned from last time, plastic totes baby. But, we did end up losing all the padding from our not even 3 months old carpet…grumble. I was up with the Service Master guys until 4:30 Am today. As I said to Trish on New Years, “So, whats the January surprise?” I was off by 4 days.

I spent all day installing a new pump and backup system..FUN!

I just converted the video I took in the basement right after some of the water subsided.

Get the Flash Player to see the wordTube Media Player.
After this I’m done harping about it, I promise!

Hey we’re back!

This morning I thought what the hell lets get this thing back up and running and see what happens. Wow it works! Ahhh, my online home is back. I even was able to import the stuff from the temporary blog. Wordpress rocks.

As the world turns..

A short update…the wheels are starting to turn, slowly. We’ve been in contact with insurance to get the ball rolling and by the end of this week we’ll have the carpet people out for measuring. Still need a repair estimate for our doors and trim that are warped. We had repair people out looking at the TV and the treadmill. Anyone want some fire hazards? I have no idea what we’re going to do with these paper weights or how to get these things out of the basement for that matter. Lots of grunting is in my future I think.

In other news not basement related…

Holy crap we have been scheduled! October 18th will be the planned arrival of our new (99% certain) daughter. Damn time files and its already just a month away. Glad I just finished the babies room. Thanks Mom for helping with the painting. Eventually I’ll put up pictures, somewhere.

The cleanup begins

Servicemaster came this morning and finally picked up their equipment. Now the next step is to get estimates for repairs, we have to make a list of all the stuff that didn’t make it, get a carpet estimate, and somehow get an appliance technician to come out and check out the TV and other electronics. Yeah, this is going to be fun. Nothing like starting over a month and half before the baby shows up.

Hello!

So, welcome to Korioth.com in exile! Hey, just because mother nature decided to piss all over my basement doesn’t mean we have to stop blogging! Sure its a bit sparse, but its better than nothing! Surprisingly the computer that hosts the site at home survived the water, at least I think it did. So once things are back together around here the old site should be making a comeback.
