So, since our old trusty Canon digital camera decided to blow up in flames earlier this summer (it must be the summer of electronic death) and with the approach of Erik's first day of school it was time to find a replacement. So, after much hemming and hawing I have settled on the Canon SD780is, a tiny tiny 12 megapixel point and shooter that also does 720p HD quality video. Check out the sample shot and the video, although I think I screwed up the final output for the video so its not actual resolution. So far first impressions are its really solid. I'm curious to see how this camera will hold up over time.

So while digging through a drawer with all kinds of junk I came across this pile of old zip 100 disks. Man back in the day this was the schizzle..but now? So with the rapid pace of changing tech what does one do with the discarded husks of technologies past? Doesn't seem right to just pitch it.

Some of you may have noticed the schizophrenic behavior of this web site. Yeah sorry I just can’t leave things alone, I like to break things. In trying to upgrade to Fedora 8 that was just released to much fanfare I managed to break the whole thing badly. So bad that I had to wipe the slate clean and start over…thank you backups! Instead of getting frustrated again (Fedora was acting really wonky) I went and decided to give Open Suse 10.3 a spin and see how that did. So far, me likey! So, now that the house is in order again, I hope, I will be adding more pictures and stuff again.

I thought this was important enough to blog about….
Among the various stunts our favorite politicians are trying to pull, they are slowly bowing down to the demands of the large telecom firms ultimate wish to charge extra for a ‘tiered internet’ . Not only is this outrageous, but this is a complete double dip into the cookie jar. We already pay for unfettered access , both us as the end user and the content provider like say
google.com . So now they want to put in place speed limits? I don’t think so pal, especially not since you’ve delivered all of our info to the
